In the village of Besiste, Mariovo lived dedo Zoran Markovski nicknamed Markovski. Ever since his wife died, he lived as a widower taking care of his two sons Dragan and Nikola. Dedo Zoran raised both boys and in so doing he fulfilled two duties, one to raise them as a mom would and the other as their dad. In spite of difficulties, the old man managed to raise both boys to become good looking and well-mannered young men ready for marriage. Old Zoran is overjoyed with his two sons and concludes that Dragan is ready to seek a bride. He thinks to himself that a house needs a woman to make it a home. A house without a woman is like a body without a heart. For old Zoran nothing ever came without a lot of effort. And so it proved in his quest for finding a bride for his son Dragan. He turned to some well off villagers who nevertheless rebuffed him since their daughters would have to work hard as servants being married to a poor husband as they would have to look after the house chores with three grown men living there. To make matters worse Zoran was not one to get along with easily.
