Going to School, Childhood Memories...

The school In the village where I was born had classes for grades one to eight. The starting age for grade one was six years old. Children from nearby villages had to walk to our school to attend grades four to eight. Students from Polciste had to walk for approximately one hour around the tall and rocky mountain called Pandale. Manastir was located south of our village and the students who came from there had to walk uphill and it took them even longer to arrive at our school.

The school was built with natural stone carved from the hillsides around the village. The walls were approximately one meter thick and covered with plaster on both sides then painted with white paint (var) that was produced in the hills of Pandale. Later in the book I will explain on how the paint was produced.
